Making Green Chile Wontons is a great way to impress your guests with a tasty appetizer. Here are the steps you need to follow:
Ingredients:
- 8 oz wonton wrappers
- 1 can of diced green chilies
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp of chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tsp of ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Step 2: Wrap the wontons
Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface, with one of the corners pointing towards you.
Scoop about a tablespoon of filling into the center of the wonton wrapper. Fold the top corner down over the filling and then fold in the left and right corners, making sure to tuck in all sides of the wrapping.
Step 3: Seal the wontons
Moisten the edges of the wonton wrapping with a little bit of water. Then fold the bottom corner up over the sealed edges, pressing down firmly to make sure that the wontings are sealed.
Step 4: Fry the wontings
In a deep frying pan, heat about an inch of oil over medium heat until it reaches a temperature of around 375°F.
Carefully place the wontings in the hot oil, making sure that they don't touch or stick together. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Step 5: Serve the wontons
Remove the fried wontons from the pan using a slotted spoon, and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
Serve the green chile wontons hot with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
