Franks Sure Kill Venison Chili Beans and Grains Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs venison meat (ground or chopped)
- 1 can of kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 can of diced tomatoes (undrained)
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped scallions, hot sauce
Instructions:
1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
2. Add chopped onion and sauté for 3-5 minutes until translucent and softened.
3. Add minced garlic and stir for another minute.
4. Add ground venison meat and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
5. Season with chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to taste.
6. Add diced bell peppers and stir well.
7. Pour in the canned beans (kidney, black, and diced tomatoes) and mix everything together.
8. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have melded together and the venison is tender.
9. Serve hot with desired toppings (cheese, sour cream, scallions, hot sauce).
Tips:
- For a spicier chili, use hotter chili powder or add some hot sauce towards the end of cooking.
- You can substitute venison meat with ground beef, turkey, or even tofu for a vegetarian option.
- Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your liking.
- If you don't have a Dutch oven, you can use a large pot and cover it with a lid while cooking.
