Steps
Fennel Smoked Salmon Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb of fresh salmon fillet
- 2 fennel bulbs
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 1/4 cup of maple syrup
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp of smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Preheat your smoker to 200°F. If you don't have a smoker, you can use an electric grill or a cast iron skillet.
2. Clean the salmon fillet and remove any bones or skin. Cut the salmon into even slices.
3. Prepare the fennel bulbs by removing the outer layer of green leaves and slicing them in half lengthwise.
4. In a bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, maple syrup, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
5. Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
6. Brush the fennel bulbs with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
7. Place the fennel bulbs cut side up on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
8. Season both sides of the salmon fillet with salt and pepper.
9. Place the salmon fillet in between the fennel halves, skin side down.
10. Brush the salmon fillet with the honey garlic soy maple mixture.
11. Cover the baking sheet with aluminum foil and place it on the preheated smoker or electric grill.
12. Cook for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and cook for another 15 minutes until the salmon is cooked through.
13. Remove the salmon from the fennel halves and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
14. Serve your smoked salmon with crusty bread, crackers, or as part of a charcuterie board. Enjoy!
