Ingredients:

* 2 pounds of beef roast (preferably chuck or brisket)
* 1/4 cup olive oil
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 1 large onion, chopped
* 5 cloves garlic, minced
* 2 tablespoons tomato paste
* 1 cup beef broth
* 1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
* 2 tablespoons brown sugar
* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1 teaspoon dried thyme
* 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
* Optional: mashed potatoes, green beans, or carrots for serving
